This is an example of the JBONE signature. Each one is unique! This particular one is on my sculpture titled An Even Bigger iron e. This is part of my Penstock Series and the raw material is over 150 years old! It's past life was performing as the penstock at the Georges River Woolen Mill during the mid 1800's and into the 20th Century It was pulled from the river during demolition of the mill in 2004. This signature has been used on any piece of my art that got signed. My transition to Studio JBONE was an attempt to bring the Brand full circle.

PUBLIC ART
Sunrise At Woolen Mill Park was my first public art installation and appropriately this achievement occurred in my home town of Warren, Maine in 2010. This panel was created almost entirely with elements salvaged during the demolition of the Georges River Woolen Mill in 2004. In my years the mill was known as Crowe Rope, however, since the mid 1800's the mill was a significant economic engine for Warren and its residents. This property is now public green space and known as Woolen Mill Park. This precise location in the river is a prime spot for photographers and nature lovers to observe the actions of Osprey and Bald Eagles in late spring when the alewives start to run. It was a treat to actually be installing the guardrail and sculpture right at the height of 2010's run.

The paved path running by the sculpture is a section of the Harbor Trail. Ridin' the Rails to Rockland is the inaugural public art installation along the trail.

Installation day for A Sprirt of Its Own at Portland International Jetport, April, 2014. A very significant accomplishment here on several fronts. This is part of my limited Shear Ring Series and there will be much written about this series in the future. This raw material was bequeathed to me from friend and mentor David McLaughlin of Liberty, Maine. This sculpture allows me to pay tribute to him in a worthy manner for his friendship, influence and thoughtfulness. Simply put, without David this sculpture would not exist.

Diamond In the Rough is a favorite of mine. The reference was brought up often by visitors in the very early days of the sculpture garden. Likely, in reference to the property as well as the inner artist! This is number 2 in the series. All pieces shaped then hand cut to fit. She's a handful but fun to lug around.

Much potential exists for hosting events with plenty of parking and room to roam in the park setting. About three acres serve as space for showcasing JBONE's creations with pond, lawn, trails and a tree top canopy that sets the mood!

Violent Surrender This piece of I-Beam was salvaged during the demolition of the Miller Woolen Mill in Lisbon, Maine. It made quite an impression on me when arriving on site to select material for transport to the studio. This was the very end of a long piece of I-Beam that was sticking up into the air as it protruded out of a giant pile of wreckage. It seemed a bit like a flame. Within a short time my buddy Dwight was hooked onto the beam to pull it from the pile and I cut off the top chunk. Later on it was juxtaposed with this ideal piece of granite and is a favorite at the studio. I suspect the damage was down from an intense compression load on the beam as the rest of the building was demolished. Can only imagine the sound when this let go.

Ted Howard was a great friend and member of out community. Blessed to have been asked to retrieve some of his collection of metals for use in sculpture. Almost all materials used from this collection are referred to as the HILT series……our old annex name for Ted's space, the Howard Institute for Lower Technology!

YOU'RE LOOKIN' OVER A FOUR LEAF CLOVER Installed at HIll & Dale Farm, Warren, Maine. This is a fitting installation as Harold Moore, a late friend, who with his wife Helen operated this horse farm for generations of horse lovers. Boarding and riding lessons here provided memories for countless people. Harold was enthusiastic of my art passion and when I began to create Endless Trot I mentioned to harold that I was running short on used horseshoes and the problem was solved!! After Harold and Helen passed, another friend, Lanny Boggs, acquired the farm and it is in operation as days gone by. Lanny has proven to be a great supporter of all things studioJBONE and this installation is a fitting celebration of the chain of events that led to the current studioJBONE and the horse shoe sphere series.
